What was meant to be an early morning walk with the dog in Lyme Park turned into a wander along the River Mersey in Stockport.
Why? Because the A6 was closed just beyond High Lane (know to us forever as Thigh Lane due to hilarious and oddly persistent re-signage by (presumably) residents... yes, we are childish like that). No way round the closure at that point and I shudder to think what the traffic jam would be like later. It is usually clogged with traffic at the best of times and the Sunday morning exodus from Manchester and Stockport on Sunday is not the best of times.
So we turned around while we still could and instead walked the dog down the River Mersey on what turned out to be a lovely sunny Sunday morning (rare at the moment).
This 'monolith' presented an irresistible self-portrait opportunity, if a slightly scary one. So contextually weird too.
