Incredible as it may seem we had a hot sunny week in Pembrokeshire at the beginning of April. Who knew the sun shone so brightly in Wales so early in the year...
These photos are from Dale Airfield. It was a gorgeous day and full of the sound of skylarks.
It is a fairly desolate place and few people were around. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs down the side of the airfield and walkers are to be expected.
The whole area had a feeling of being at the end of the world. From Marloes Beacon nearby (quaintly called a mountain at 66m above sea level) there are outstanding views of the sea surrounding the peninsular which reinforces the end of the world feeling.
As can be seen there is an air of agricultural dereliction too.
The signpost is for the coastal path although it does feel like it is pointing from nothing to nothing.
This just feels abandoned.
Walking back I was confronted with this sign. It was from where I had come into the airfield which was disconcerting because I hadn't seen a sister sign on the gate on the other side when I crossed. And that gate looks robust enough for a very big bull
The photos were taken on a Nikon FE2 with a Nikkor 20mm f/2,8 AIS lens. Film was Kentmere Pan 100 developed in Rodinal 1+25 for 10mins.
